As many of you know, we have been gearing up for the release of TeqR esports so I wanted to take some time to go through with you what this meant for us at SSRCG.
SSRCG is a family, I consider you all friends, some of you my best friends, some of you unfortunately I cannot get rid of. We go to LANs, fests and nights out together. Not all of us are competitive in our chosen games anymore, the way for example we were in years gone by. So we decided, in memory of our brother @Matt that we fork an esports organisation for those of us who still have the fire in their bellies, the competitive edge. So I present to you, TeqR esports:
The website will be ready very soon, nothing too indepth just a blurb about us and any sponsors/affiliations and who plays for us.
We want to keep things exclusively to members here. My CS team will represent at insomnia festivals and online:
Our 4th and 5th player are to be confirmed. Last LAN Xeno and Smidsy played for us but will not at summer lan due to unavoidable commitments in Xenos case and Smidsy being an international superstar DJ he has conflicting bookings that would get in the way of practise. These 2 will forever be the players who helped us whoop ass with that name and hold a legend status.
For hearthstone we have after some thought chosen three players:
Jade was chosen for consistently showing she can play competitively on stream and has a strong understanding of more than one class. She will begin to increase streaming frequency again and push for legend in EU. She shows a strong showing in ladder each month, easily getting to rank 5 and below. With the extra time she will get to legend. At i55 in the hearthstone tournament I recall Jade doing well but not continuing because of the delays. I also remember watching her beat Control Warrior in a heavily unfavoured matchup as rogue to win a close series.
Van Slab aka Rodney as we all know is the most casual player in the world, but upon further inspection, if you take time to watch you will see he is incredibly skilled in brewing his own, unique control decks and has a large understanding of the game. We watched him play in the redemption cup at i57 and sport wins over some strong players, including SK Gamings MartinCreek. He also had a narrow 3-2 loss to DayC. The key takeaway here is that Rodney ran Charge Warrior, Blingtron OTK Warlock and Anyfin Paladin. None of these are particularly huge in the meta, apart from maybe Anyfin paladin but the point is with focus and decks to beat the meta, Rodney is more than capable of winning any tournament he enters and beating whoever he faces.
DayC has a CCG background, is the founder of the BMT and helped a lot of us including myself get into hearthstone. He also played in the redemption cup and sported a victory over Rodney as mentioned above, and a close 3-2 loss to Poker Star Elky. With the combination of these three players practising and breaking down the meta with help of our community and players like Gaskin. I can see some real fun games coming for these guys in the future.
In terms of 'signed' players that is where we are as of now with our intentions lying in picking up an SFV player, and an overwatch team if the game kicks off. We will not go down the moba route as they are a waste of time and you should uninstall them immediately. Who we pick up as an SFV player will be determined in the coming weeks, partially based on the weekly cups results and partially based on LAN potential.
The nature of TeqR esports is that we do not want to take a %age of any prize you may win as a player or team. We are here to help you make your way in esports, and it is easier with some backing. If you want to get sponsors it can be easier with an org name and some website hits to back you, this is where we help. We will forever keep the local business mentality.
I am in meetings this week with a new clothing provider and we will use Noodles company Pandi for mousepads and whatever else he releases. We have had a strong historical relationship with gamers apparel in the past, sadly not without issues. I spoke with the owner at LAN but have not had enough communication since so it is my duty to you all to go and see if I can find us the best possible gear to wear.
As for SSRCG we will continue to game, drink, eat and wrestle as we have been and maybe even harder.
I cannot emphasize how much I am thankful for you all being here. Lets make each LAN better than the last and continue to fuel SSRCG and now TeqR esports in Matt's memory, the way it should be done. I would also like to thank you for integrating new member so seamlessly. Chris aka cMo had never been to LAN now he is photoshopping Harry into Gachimuchi like we had corrupted him years ago. Another example is the sloth squad, we met them through JD now theyre like furniture and a LAN wouldnt be a LAN without Greeno
